State of AI in the Enterprise, 2nd Edition

July 13, 2019

FOR THE SECOND straight year, Deloitte surveyed executives knowledgeable about cognitive technologies and artificial intelligence,1 representing companies that are testing and implementing them today. We found that these early adopters2 remain bullish on cognitive technologies’ value. As in last year’s survey, the level of support for AI is truly extraordinary. Our analysis uncovered three main findings.

Understanding the Dynamics of artificial intelligence in Intellectual Property.

whitePaper | November 30, 2019

The report on “Understanding the Dynamics of Artificial Intelligence in Intellectual Property” prepared by the Tata Consultancy Services in close association with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) captures global developments, practices of various intellectual property offices of the world, technology landscape and research outlook. This publication on IPR would provide useful information to educational & research institutions and industries doing research in this area and fill up gaps for moving forward. CII firmly believes that IPR should be at the centre stage in competing in the world of artificial intelligence in a meaningful manner. The report highlights an important recommendation that, “With evolution of new technology, it is essential to have change in the IP creation and protection ecosystem by mechanisms to develop new doctrines for new technologies, modifying the existing system to accommodate this new change and reshaping of new policies for enforcement of IPRs”.

HFS Enterprise AI Services Top 10

whitePaper | January 12, 2020

“The services market for artificial intelligence technologies is rapidly maturing on the back of several years of learning and a realization—delivering AI is unlike delivering any other technology thus far. Delivering on the promise of AI calls for far more collaboration between service providers, tech vendors, and enterprise clients.” The biggest differentiator in enterprise AI services, as described by most of the customer leaders, is the quality of people—not just the quantity available for a specific skill. Domain understanding and data engineering capabilities are top priorities. A culture of innovation, experimentation, collaboration, and co creation with customers is the key winning formula here.”

Certifying Fairness of AI-Applications An Impossible Task?

whitePaper | January 28, 2022

Since more and more decisions that used to be made by humans are nowadays made either with the help of Artificial Intelligence (AI) or by AI alone, it is essential that the AI algorithms are “fair.” In this whitepaper, we discuss issues surrounding the fairness of AI applications, with a special focus on how it can be assessed independently and subsequently certified. We explain why an AI application cannot be classified – and subsequently certified – as “fair” or “unfair” in a general sense and propose an approach that makes it possible to classify it as “fair” or “unfair” under the (application)-specific definition of fairness.

Machine Learning on Arm Cortex-M Microcontrollers

whitePaper | January 20, 2022

Machine learning (ML) algorithms are moving to the IoT edge due to various considerations such as latency, power consumption, cost, network bandwidth, reliability, privacy and security. Hence, there is an increasing interest in developing neural network (NN) solutions to deploy them on low-power edge devices such as the Arm Cortex-M microcontroller systems. To enable that, we present CMSIS-NN, an open-source library of optimized software kernels that maximize the NN performance on Cortex-M cores with minimal memory footprint overhead. We further present methods for NN architecture exploration, using image classification on CIFAR-10 dataset as an example, to develop models that fit on such constrained devices.
