Multilayered cybersecurity: part ofmodern cyber protection

August 10, 2020

Data is the most important asset businesses have. As the world has become increasingly digital, data has grown in volume and value. In fact, this most valuable resource of modern society doubles in volume every year and that growth rate is likely to accelerate even further. Of course, this creates a challenge: how to store data securely and how to be sure that every operation with data is secured? Today loss of data means loss of everything: business, identity, future, and even life in some cases.

Machine Learning on Arm Cortex-M Microcontrollers

whitePaper | January 20, 2022

Machine learning (ML) algorithms are moving to the IoT edge due to various considerations such as latency, power consumption, cost, network bandwidth, reliability, privacy and security. Hence, there is an increasing interest in developing neural network (NN) solutions to deploy them on low-power edge devices such as the Arm Cortex-M microcontroller systems. To enable that, we present CMSIS-NN, an open-source library of optimized software kernels that maximize the NN performance on Cortex-M cores with minimal memory footprint overhead. We further present methods for NN architecture exploration, using image classification on CIFAR-10 dataset as an example, to develop models that fit on such constrained devices.

Trusted Artificial Intelligence Towards Certification of Machine Learning Applications

whitePaper | March 30, 2022

Artificial Intelligence is one of the fastest growing technologies of the 21st century and accompanies us in our daily lives when interacting with technical applications. However, reliance on such technical systems is crucial for their widespread applicability and acceptance. The societal tools to express reliance are usually formalized by lawful regulations, i.e., standards, norms, accreditations, and certificates. Therefore, the TÜV AUSTRIA Group in cooperation with the Institute for Machine Learning at the Johannes Kepler University Linz, proposes a certification process and an audit catalog for Machine Learning applications.

Green Mechanical

whitePaper | April 16, 2020

Since its inception in 1983, Green Mechanical has grown from 1 to 3 offices, taking on larger, more complex projects. However, success came with its own unique challenges. With employees spread across multiple cities and states, Green Mechanical built custom workflows for various systems to ensure collaborators had access to the information they needed. That meant employees had to keep track of multiple remote logins to complete simple tasks like printing job cost reports. Additionally, some employees used digital processes, while others used pen-and-paper. As a result, teams were often working off outdated information.

The UK’s AI Strategy: Where Are We Now?

whitePaper | September 22, 2022

Last year, the UK Department of Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) published its 10- year National AI Strategy for the regulation and promotion of artificial intelligence (AI) in the UK (Report). DCMS seeks to build “the most pro-innovation regulatory environment in the world” and vows to make the UK the “best place to live and work with AI” over the next decade. Since then, the UK government and regulators have taken various steps towards this aim, with the Report anticipating a large number of AI-centric publications and consultations. Some key examples (and their latest status) are summarised below, including a policy paper and white paper on a pro-innovation national position on governing and regulating AI, an Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) consultation on the beta version of its AI and data protection risk toolkit, and a consultation on copyright and patents for AI through the UK Intellectual Property Office (IPO).
