Pulse Secure Elevates vADC Assets to Google Cloud

Pulse Secure released its (somewhat) freshly acquired virtual Application Delivery Controller (vADC) products to the Google Cloud Platform (GCP). It is already available on Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS). The vADC uses central management tools to accelerate service deployment and increase security, scalability, and resiliency of applications as enterprises migrate to the cloud. Pulse Secure acquired the vADC assets from Brocade last year. The first new release of the controller debuted in March. The Pulse Services Director 18.1 brought greater analytics capabilities to the vADC. This included the delivery of detailed information about data flows through each application and behavior of applications across virtual and cloud platforms. Both the 18.1 release and the extension to GCP represent Pulse Secure’s greater push to ease migrations to the cloud and increase its ability to serve multi-cloud environments. The vADC works by delivering applications with security, scalability, and resiliency. When enterprises migrate to the cloud, Pulse Secure vADC includes and maintains the tools needed to customize and optimize these applications, negating the need to rearchitet the network. This increases the portability of services and apps from on-premises to cloud environments. “Companies can use the vADC solution as virtual appliance on premise and the same systems can be instrumented in the cloud through cloud service providers, offering uniform application visibility, availably and resiliency so one management console can manage an orchestrate load balancing and disaster recovery, both on-premise and in the cloud,” said Marion Smith, Pulse Secure vice president and general manager of the vADC business unit. The security enabled by the controller provides protection against Layer 7 application vulnerabilities. This includes a scalable application firewall for cloud. It uses session monitoring to identify threats and provides granular application firewall protection to test rule sets and reduce false positive threats before moving into production. The controller also automatically scales and redistributes loads during traffic spikes. This optimizes both performance and delivery of services for the enterprise’s customers.
