Henderson Engineers and Torch.AI Test New AI for Building Systems Design

Torch.AI | September 06, 2022

Torch.AI, pioneers of Data Infrastructure AI™, is testing a new artificial intelligence application with Henderson Engineers, a national building systems design firm, to unlock the creative and problem solving potential of the firm's more than 1,000 employees. Henderson, one of the world's most prominent and successful building systems design and engineering firms, works on projects across the business, community, health, retail, and venue sectors, including many high-profile projects, such as SoFi Stadium, host site for the 2022 Super Bowl. The construction & engineering industry is known for sophisticated projects spanning huge supplier networks, strict building design standards, detailed job planning efforts, and tight margins. The industry relies on highly complex information contained in equally complex unstructured data: drawings, images, PDFs, handwriting, raw text. Earlier this year, Henderson began testing new artificial intelligence from Torch.AI that could learn to read complex construction and engineering documents and diagrams. Past construction & engineering data sets were used to quickly train the AI with more than 340 million parameters and growing, which in turn creates new opportunities for automation and data sharing. The Torch.AI system has already read roughly 100,000 engineering drawings with remarkable accuracy. In one example, in less than one second the AI is able to identify, extract, and compare diagrams from 40+ page project files with an average accuracy of 98.9%. Torch.AI's software helps unlock human potential by removing impediments to creativity and problem solving, namely mundane tasks created by the explosion of enterprise data and ever-increasing gaps in technology. The software begins by instantly figuring out what the data is and how it can be useful, then applies advanced machine learning to automate the steps necessary to deliver new insights and support decisions; all without human intervention. "When Kevin Lewis, Henderson's CEO, and I got together to first discuss the partnership, I could tell they were already thinking way ahead of everyone else. "As an engineering firm they are meticulous, thoughtful, strategic. We quickly saw the potential impact these new AI systems could have for their amazingly talented teams and are excited to continue growing our relationship." Brian Weaver, Chairman and CEO of Torch.AI About Torch.AI Torch.AI, the Data Infrastructure AI™ Pioneers, are headquartered in Kansas City with offices in Washington, DC. The company developed the use of AI to process data in-flight, radically evolving analytic and operational capabilities in any IT environment. Torch.AI's products and people are currently actively supporting operations in industries including financial services & insurance, construction and engineering, healthcare, and the US Department of Defense, US Department of Homeland Security, and other agencies. About Henderson Engineers Henderson Engineers provides a wide array of building system design engineering services across a variety of building types, specializing in five market sectors: Business, Community, Health, Retail, and Venue. Rocket Software Launches Rocket Support for Zowe to Modernize Mainframe Application Development

Rocket Software | September 14, 2022

Rocket Software, a global technology leader that develops enterprise software for some of the world’s largest companies, today announced it has launched Rocket® Support for Zowe, a supporting offering for the Open Mainframe Project’s Zowe® open-source framework for z/OS® and its multiple modern interfaces.1 Rocket Support for Zowe provides customers with 24/7 support for Zowe core components, improved security and exclusive desktop applications. Open-source software accelerates IBM Z® application development and delivery through modern tools that drive automation and integration to and from the mainframe.2 However, without development support, it can create security and compliance risks and can be difficult and time consuming to maintain. Waiting on vulnerability fixes from the open-source software community can open an organization to a multitude of risks. Rocket Support for Zowe reduces this risk by providing customers with 24/7 support for their security, compliance and maintenance needs. Rocket Support for Zowe also provides exclusive virtual desktop applications like Rocket USS Process Manager, which monitors all UNIX® System Services, the operating system host to much of Zowe.i More exclusive desktop applications will continue to become available in the near and long term as Rocket Software continuously improves Rocket Support for Zowe. Open-source software is also key to providing the next generation of IT professionals – who may be unfamiliar with the mainframe – with familiar languages and tools that make it easy for them to manage the mainframe similar to the way they work with other platforms. Rocket Support for Zowe offers unique synergies when used with Rocket® Open AppDev for Z, an open-source DevOps solution providing services and support for over 20 open-source languages and tools—including Git®, Python®, cURL and Bash—that enable the mainframe to be another valuable platform in a DevOps infrastructure.3 Rocket Support for Zowe will enable any developer to improve upon and expedite mainframe application development and delivery with secure and supported open-source software innovation for z/OS. “Rocket Software is a proud founding member of Zowe, which has been an open-source software framework for z/OS, providing interoperability and scalability among products through the Open Mainframe ProjectTM since 2018,” said Phil Buckellew, President, Infrastructure Modernization Unit, Rocket Software.4 “Rocket Support for Zowe will relieve the challenges of open-source software for Rocket customers and accelerate mainframe application development.” “Mainframe modernization is rapidly becoming the most critical component of the hybrid cloud evolution of the platform. The Open Mainframe Project, particularly Zowe, is a key part of this trend and represents a significant opportunity for mainframe clients looking to embrace open-source and modernize,” said Steven Dickens, Senior Analyst at Futurum Research. “Rocket Software continues to play an important role in leading the evolution of open source on the mainframe, which I believe will gain market momentum as mainframe customers seek to modernize their deployments. An enterprise-grade, fully supported Zowe deployment is the goal for many clients, and Rocket is providing that.” About Rocket Software Rocket Software partners with the largest Fortune 1000 organizations to solve their most complex IT challenges across Applications, Data and Infrastructure. Rocket Software brings customers from where they are in their modernization journey to where they want to be by architecting innovative solutions that deliver next-generation experiences. Over 10 million global IT and business professionals trust Rocket Software to deliver solutions that improve responsiveness to change and optimize workloads. Rocket Software enables organizations to modernize in place with a hybrid cloud strategy to protect investment, decrease risk and reduce time to value. Rocket Software is a privately held U.S. corporation headquartered in the Boston area with centers of excellence strategically located throughout North America, Europe, Asia and Australia. Rocket Software is a portfolio company of Bain Capital Private Equity.
