Eidosmedia partners with Sophi.io on AI-powered print automation

Eidosmedia | September 29, 2022

Eidosmedia, a developer of digital publishing solutions for leading news-media groups worldwide, has partnered with Sophi.io, an AI-powered automation, optimization and prediction platform developed by The Globe and Mail, to bring seamless print laydown automation to Eidosmedia customers. The solution brings the entire print page layout process down from hours to just minutes, without the use of templates. Publishers can dramatically improve productivity and cut costs, all within the Méthode platform they currently use. “The complexity of print page layouts has until now defied the easy automation that speeds the publishing of online formats. “For our customers, especially large regional groups and national titles, print editions continue to be a major source of revenue. There’s intense interest in ways to cut production times and costs in this important publishing channel.” Marco Cetola, Eidosmedia Sales and Partner Program Director “The fit between our print edition building routines and Sophi’s AI engine turned out to be very good,” said Marco. “We were quickly able to start training the pagination model on existing layouts, and we had the first results in a matter of days”. “The productivity boost obtained is exceptional,” said Marco, “especially for daily publications where the page-design operation is usually running against the clock.” In fact, a typical 32-page print edition can be paginated in minutes compared to several hours for a manual operation. Sophi-powered print automation is different than other print production solutions in that it is completely template-free. It uses smart AI to ensure that a publisher’s printed pages look and feel as though they were produced by experienced editors and page designers. Each page is designed from scratch following each individual brand’s design vocabulary. The final output is a print-ready PDF or InDesign file that’s ready in minutes. Among those who stand to benefit from the new technology are page designers themselves. Page designers have been under pressure for some time to increase their productivity as publishers try to cut costs. With fewer hands to lay out growing numbers of pages, the designer’s job has in many cases become a stressful race against time. The automation engine will take routine tasks off their hands so they can devote more time to the front pages, features and special layouts where their creativity can really add value. “Page automation is the greatest innovation in the publishing industry since the personal computer replaced typewriters,” said Marco. Gabe Gonda, VP at Sophi.io, commented: “Sophi is delighted to be entering a partnership with Eidosmedia to deliver our print automation technology through the Méthode platform. Eidosmedia is a first-class CMS vendor with deep knowledge of its clients’ evolving needs. This partnership will help deliver a unique and high-value solution to some of the best newspaper publishers in the world.” About Eidosmedia Eidosmedia is a global leader in content management and digital publishing. Eidosmedia solutions are used by news-media organizations throughout the world to create and deliver portfolios of news products ranging from advanced digital formats to traditional newspapers and magazines. About Sophi Inc. Sophi.io was developed by The Globe and Mail to help content publishers make important strategic and tactical decisions. It is a suite of AI and ML-powered automation, optimization and prediction solutions that include Sophi Site Automation, Sophi for Paywalls and Sophi for First Party Data. Sophi also powers one-click automated laydown of template-free print publishing. Sophi is designed to improve the metrics that matter most to your business.

Credo AI Announces New Capabilities to Bring Transparency Through Comprehensive Assessment and Reporting

Credo AI | November 07, 2022

Credo AI, the governance company operationalizing Responsible AI, today announced the general availability of new assessment and reporting capabilities in its Responsible AI Governance Platform. These enhancements will enable enterprises to easily meet new regulatory requirements and customer demands for governance artifacts, reports and disclosures on their development and use of AI, with a focus on assessing and documenting Responsible AI issues like fairness and bias, explainability, robustness, security, and privacy. This release is the latest addition to Credo AI's software that helps enterprises manage AI risk and compliance at scale. The new feature set allows organizations to standardize and automate reporting of Responsible AI issues across all of their AI/ML applications. These features were developed in response to the growing call for transparency and documentation of AI systems from regulators, customers and consumers. Increasingly, the world is demanding to know how AI systems behave, particularly when it comes to issues like fairness and bias. Forthcoming regulations like New York City's algorithmic hiring law and the EU AI Act will soon mandate that organizations building, buying and using AI conduct regular assessments or audits of their AI tools and publish reports for public consumption. Recently, the White House also introduced a blueprint for an AI Bill of Rights which provides guidance on the design, use and deployment of AI. And last month, the House of Representatives Committee on Science, Space, and Technology held a hearing on managing the risks of AI where tech leaders including Credo AI's founder and CEO Navrina Singh discussed the need for context-focused governance and transparent reporting. Credo AI enables customers to comply with upcoming regulations and address their customers' questions and concerns about the AI systems they're offering and implementing. The platform is already in use at Fortune 100 enterprises in the financial services, insurance, high tech, and aerospace and defense sectors, which are using it to generate governance artifacts and reports on the fairness, performance, and governance of their AI systems to share with customers and regulators. The product update also includes enhancements to the Platform's integration with Credo AI Lens, an open source Responsible AI assessment framework, to enable programmatic technical assessments of fairness and bias, explainability, robustness, security, and privacy of ML models and datasets, significantly reducing the burden of Responsible AI reporting and documentation on technical teams. "Credo AI is building the governance layer that will empower organizations to ensure that all of their internal and third-party AI is meeting business, regulatory and ethical requirements. "This product release is the next step in our journey to bringing context focused governance and accountability to AI. Not only will this solution help companies bring their AI into compliance, but also ensures that their AI is working in alignment with human-centered values." Navrina Singh, founder and CEO of Credo AI Credo AI's newest product capabilities were informed by conversations across the RAI ecosystem. For the past two years, Credo AI has been actively building a community of practice in RAI with stakeholders from private, public and government sectors. Last week, Credo AI brought this community together at its inaugural Global Responsible AI Summit to amplify the Responsible AI movement globally, catalyze practical action and bridge the gap between diverse groups of stakeholders to collectively advance a future society and economy that is positively impacted by AI. About Credo AI Founded in 2020, Credo AI is a venture-backed company on a mission to empower organizations to deliver Responsible AI (RAI) at scale. Credo AI brings context-driven governance and risk assessment to ensure compliant, fair, transparent and auditable development and use of AI. Credo AI's Intelligent SaaS platform empowers enterprises to measure, monitor and manage AI introduced risks at scale. Credo AI enables organizations to create AI with the highest ethical standards, so that they are able to capture its tremendous benefits while mitigating unintended negative consequences. Credo AI customers include AI first and Global 2000s across Finance and Banking, Insurance, Retail, Defense and High Tech.
