Google's Wing warns latest drone regulations ‘may have unintended repercussions’ for privacy

Google | January 04, 2021

This previous week, the US government made the single greatest, most impactful arrangement of changes to ramble law we've yet observed — deciding that pretty much every robot in US airspace should communicate their areas, just as the area of their pilots, to "address wellbeing, public security, and law implementation concerns with respect to the further joining of these airplane into the airspace of the United States".

Google (in fact, Alphabet) isn't too glad about those new guidelines, incidentally. The organization's robot conveyance auxiliary Wing composed a to some degree fearmongering post (through Reuters) named "Broadcast-Only Remote Identification of Drones May Have Unintended Consequences for American Consumers," which contends that the FAA's choice to have drones communicated their area may allow eyewitnesses to follow your developments, sorting out where you go, where you live, and where and when you get bundles, among different models.

"American people group would not acknowledge this kind of reconnaissance of their conveyances or taxi stumbles out and about. They ought not acknowledge it in the sky," Wing contends.

With that sort of language, you may think Wing is contending that robots shouldn't communicated their area, yes? Amusingly, no: the Alphabet auxiliary just wishes they'd send it through the web as opposed to broadcasting it locally. I think my previous CNET associate Ian Sherr's tweet is able

Web based following is actually what the FAA had initially expected to do when it previously proposed the Remote ID rules back in December 2019, incidentally — before it got a clothing rundown of reasons from analysts why web based following may be hazardous and chosen to relinquish it. Here are only a couple of the ones referenced

Two architectural methods for Information Technology have emerged in recent years for organizations that are faced with the challenge of growing regionally or globally: ERP Instance Consolidation and Two-Tier ERP. Both methods deliver certain advantages. Certainly, both can deliver reduced cost of operation through greater optimization of resources, improved organizational visibility, and scalability to manage continued growth. If your organization’s strategic global and regional growth plans require greater operational flexibility while maintaining efficiencies of scale, Two-Tier ERP is a strategy that should be considered. JD Edwards EnterpriseOne is well positioned as an enterprise solution that can support the consolidated approach, and it is equally well suited as the solution for location-specific ERP requirements in a Two-Tier ERP strategy, either operating in the corporate data center, locally for each location, or in the cloud. The combination of scalability, flexibility, low cost of operation, interoperability, and tools to rapidly configure, deploy, and implement, make JD Edwards EnterpriseOne a “best choice” leader for your expansion strategies.

Union.ai releases UnionML for seamless creation of web-native machine learning applications

Union.ai | June 10, 2022

Union.ai, provider of the open-source workflow orchestration platform Flyte and its hosted version, Union Cloud, today announced the release of UnionML at MLOps World 2022. The open-source MLOps framework for building web-native machine learning applications offers a unified interface for bundling Python functions into machine learning (ML) microservices. It is the only library that seamlessly manages both data science workflows and production lifecycle tasks. This makes it easy to build new AI applications from scratch, or make existing Python code run faster at scale. UnionML aims to unify the ever-evolving ecosystem of machine learning and data tools into a single interface for expressing microservices as Python functions. Data scientists can create UnionML applications by defining a few core methods that are automatically bundled into ML microservices, starting with model training and offline/online prediction. "Creating machine learning applications should be easy, frictionless and simple, but today it really isn't., The cost and complexity of choosing tools, deciding how to combine them into a coherent ML stack, and maintaining them in production requires a whole team of people who often leverage different programming languages and follow disparate practices. UnionML significantly simplifies creating and deploying machine learning applications." Union.ai CEO Ketan Umare UnionML apps comprise two objects: Dataset and Model. Together, they expose function decorator entry points that serve as building blocks for a machine learning application. By focusing on the core building blocks instead of the way they fit together, data scientists can reduce their cognitive load for iterating on models and deploying them to production. UnionML uses Flyte to execute training and prediction workflows locally or on production-grade Kubernetes clusters, relieving MLOps engineers of the overhead of provisioning compute resources for their stakeholders. Models and ML applications can be served via FastAPI or AWS Lambda. More options will be available in the future. About Union.ai Union.ai helps organizations deliver reliable, reproducible and cost-effective machine learning and data orchestration built around open-source Flyte. Flyte is a one of a kind workflow automation platform that simplifies the journey of data scientists and machine learning engineers from ideation to production. Some of the top companies, including Lyft, Spotify, GoJek and more, rely on Flyte to power their Data & ML products. Based in Bellevue, Wash., Union.ai was started by founding engineers of Flyte and is the leading contributor to Flyte.
