Cadence and TSMC Collaborate to Accelerate the Development of Mobile, AI, and Hyperscale Computing Applications on N3 and N4 Processes

Cadence Design Systems, Inc. announced today that it is expanding its cooperation with TSMC to accelerate mobile, AI, and hyperscale computing application design on TSMC's N3 and N4 process technologies utilizing the integrated Cadence® digital flow and custom/analog tool suite. Customers of Cadence and TSMC have already used the digital and custom/analog tools to complete test chip tapeouts successfully. Cadence digital and custom/analog tools have been optimized and certified for TSMC's N3 and N4 process technologies as part of the partnership, enabling the latest Design Rule Manual (DRM) certification and SPICE correlation. The associated N3 and N4 process design kits (PDKs) are available now.

N3 and N4 Digital Flow Certification

The Cadence digital flow has been fine-tuned and certified for usage on TSMC's N3 and N4 process technologies, allowing customers to achieve optimal power, performance, and area (PPA) while also reducing time to market. The Innovus Implementation System, Liberate Characterization Solution, Quantus Extraction Solution, Tempus Timing Signoff Solution, and ECO Option, and Voltus IC Power Integrity Solution is all part of the complete RTL-to-GDS flow. Furthermore, these process technologies are supported by the Genus Synthesis Solution and its predictive iSpatial technology.

Advanced rule support from synthesis to signoff engineering change orders (ECOs); large libraries containing many multi-height, voltage threshold (VT), and drive strength cells; and low-voltage call characterization and timing analysis accuracy are some of the tool suite capabilities that enable customers to design mobile, AI, and hyperscale computing applications successfully.

N3 and N4 Custom/Analog Tool Suite Certification

TSMC and Cadence have continued collaborating to develop custom design methodologies and meet complex simulation needs within Cadence's Virtuoso® and Spectre® environments to increase overall designer efficiency. Cadence provided an enhanced custom design reference flow (CDRF) in support of the partnership, and the Virtuoso Design Platform and the Spectre Simulation Platform received TSMC N3 and N4 certifications, respectively. Furthermore, the Virtuoso Platform's tight integration with the Innovus Implementation System gives TSMC's advanced-node mixed-signal customers a single, unified environment.

Enhancements to the custom design flow for TSMC's N3 and N4 process technologies include an enhanced N3 schematic design migration flow and advanced coloring feature support for N3 and N4 processes.
