Opera unveils integrated browser AI: Aria

Opera is unveiling Aria, its new browser AI today. With Aria, Opera users are getting access to a leading generative AI service for free. Aria is natively built into the browser and marks the beginning of a new kind of browsing experience for Opera users. The service is a result of Opera's collaboration with OpenAI.

"AI is rapidly changing how we work, browse the web and naturally, how we think about browsers and the part they can play in users' online experience," said Joanna Czajka, Product Director, Opera for PC. "Fittingly, Aria is our first product that named itself."

Opera's new browser AI allows users to enhance their creativity and productivity by harnessing the power of AI paired with everything a browser can do. Aria, which is based on Opera's own "Composer" infrastructure, connects to OpenAI's GPT technology and is enhanced by additional capabilities such as adding live results from the web. Aria is both a web and a browser expert that allows users to collaborate with AI while looking for information on the web, generating text or code or getting their product queries answered. When it comes to customer support, Aria is knowledgeable about Opera's entire database of support documentation and can use the company's current product knowledge to answer users' questions.

Opera's Composer infrastructure is also easily expandable. Composer allows Aria to connect to multiple AI models and will in the future expand by integrating additional capabilities such as search services powered by Opera's key partners. All this innovation will be accessible through a unified and coherent user experience.

"With Aria, Opera users have a built-in way of tapping into the potential of generative AI today for free," added Stefan Stjernelund, VP Product, Opera for Android. This is also only the beginning, with many more capabilities still to come."

Opera's browser AI strategy

The implementation of Aria marks the next step in Opera's strategy to integrate generative AI services in its browsers and is a result of the company's collaboration with OpenAI. Earlier this year, Opera introduced a first implementation of ChatGPT in the sidebar of its desktop browser along with the AI Prompts feature. It also unveiled Opera One, a redesigned version of its browser suited to accommodate more generative-AI features through its modular design. The company is now making the next step, by introducing a browser AI that will allow users to interact with the web aided by AI directly in the browser. Aria's current form of a chat interface communicating with the user marks the first stage of the project. The AI-based service is set to become even more integrated into Opera in the coming versions of the browser with the ultimate aim of being natively blended into the browser, helping users perform cross-browser tasks.

Getting started

Aria is a free service with up-to-date information, which means it's connected to the internet and not limited to content prior to 2021, making it a more advanced offering than standard GPT-based solutions. It is shipping in more than 180 countries including the EU.

Opera's users on desktop can test Aria by downloading the newest version of Opera One (developer version). Android users can now test Aria in the latest beta version of the browser, downloadable in the Google Play Store. The only thing testers need to do in order to access Aria is to create an Opera account, if they do not already have one. They will then be notified via email or inside of the product about their whitelisting status. Once a user's Opera Account is whitelisted, they can access the Aria through the settings of Opera for Android beta or through the browser sidebar of Opera One.

Merge releases Integrations Management, a suite of features for full control and visibility over customer integrations

Prnewswire | June 27, 2023

Merge, a Product Integrations Platform, today announced the launch of Integrations Management, a suite of features that provides full control and visibility over customer-facing, B2B integrations. Maintaining integrations is time consuming for SaaS companies, more so than even the initial build of the integration. With Integrations Management SaaS companies can view all of the API-based integrations their customers have set up and troubleshoot any potential customer setup error. Integrations Management includes a suite of features to ensure reliable and quality integrations. Support teams view the live status of integration data syncs, with detail down to specific data fields. Engineering teams also have access to comprehensive Logs, providing visibility into every single API request in an easy-to-query interface. Integrations Management includes Automated Issue Detection flagging via UI and API to resolve customer set-up errors such as outdated API keys or permission issues before they become a larger problem. The suite of tools also includes Scopes to control and customize what data is shared by each customer's integration, adhering to their data privacy preferences. Merge Co-Founder and CEO, Shensi Ding, commented, "It's significantly harder and more time-consuming to maintain customer integrations than to build them. That's why we built Integrations Management. It eliminates the need to build any in-house tooling or consider separate third party monitoring platforms. Merge is the only Product Integrations Platform that comes with this entire suite of features." "Integrations Management provides a seamless experience whenever our customers set up an integration," notes Daniel Marashlian, Co-Founder and CTO of Drata. "Combining the power of the Merge Dashboard and automatic alerts, it now takes my team an hour or less instead of five hours to identify potential data issues, reducing that time spent by 80% and saving us on operational costs." Gil Feig, Merge's Co-Founder and CTO, personally experienced the challenges of maintaining customer integrations, "After building an integration, we would start seeing issues come up with the previous ones we'd built. When starting Merge, I wanted to make sure Integrations Management was a key part of our product. We also did a lot of customer research and heard similar stories about the difficulties of what happens after building an integration." SaaS companies can use Integrations Management today for free by signing up for Merge. Read more about Integrations Management on the Merge blog. About Merge Merge is a Product Integrations Platform that offers a suite of Unified APIs and tools for integration management. Developers quickly add multiple integrations with Unified APIs and give their customers access to over 180 accounting, CRM, file storage, HR, marketing, recruiting, and ticketing integrations. IBM and Salesforce Unite for Enterprise Generative AI Products

IBM | September 06, 2023

• IBM and Salesforce partner to offer generative AI solutions for enterprises using Salesforce products and IBM consulting services. • IBM's Data Classifier tool and Watsonx AI platform will enhance Salesforce's AI capabilities and data mapping for customers. • Both companies will continue to invest in their own generative AI research and development while providing a comprehensive suite of products and services to customers. IBM and Salesforce have formed strategic collaboration aimed at bolstering generative AI solutions for enterprise customers. This newly unveiled partnership encompasses various aspects of the CRM value chain, with a particular focus on integrating Salesforce products into IBM's consulting services. IBM plans to leverage its Garage digital transformation methodology to facilitate the adoption of Salesforce AI technologies like Sales Cloud and Marketing Cloud. Additionally, customers will gain access to IBM's Data Classifier tool, designed to simplify data mapping using industry-specific AI models on data generated through Salesforce. This collaboration will also enhance Salesforce's AI capabilities with IBM's Watsonx AI and data platform. Matt Candy, Global Managing Partner for Generative AI at IBM Consulting, emphasized the aim of simplifying and streamlining the deployment of generative AI for enterprises to boost employee productivity and enhance the customer experience. Arun Chandrasekaran, Distinguished Vice President and Analyst at Gartner Research, noted that this partnership aligns with IBM's strategy of expanding its market share beyond its own products. IBM recognizes the growing importance of generative AI and aims to assist other vendors in delivering AI solutions in a responsible and trustworthy manner. This includes developing tools for model explainability, monitoring, and bias protection. Despite the collaboration, both IBM and Salesforce will continue to invest in their respective in-house generative AI research and development efforts. The partnership is more about providing a comprehensive suite of products and services to customers than outsourcing core development work. The joint offerings resulting from this partnership are already available to customers. AI for CRM faces challenges, including the potential for low-quality or inaccurate outputs that require human verification, difficulty in understanding and using AI responsibly, leading to transparency and explainability issues, and the potential for ethical and social challenges such as bias, privacy, and inequality. Additionally, AI-powered automation may result in job losses in some industries. However, it enriches the CRM value chain to a great extent
