NetExperience Confirms the General Availability of the New OpenWiFi Software Platform

NetExperience, the developer of the first end-to-end WLAN program and service that is OpenWiFi compliant, today announced the general availability of its new platform designed to interoperate and control all Telecom Infra Project (TIP) OpenWiFi compatible access points.

The NetExperience Platform has been thoroughly tested with TIP-compliant access points such as TP-EX227, Link's EC420, and EX447, EdgeCore's ECW52111, ECW5410, EAP101&102, and CIG's WF-610D, WF-188n, and WF-194c. Several promising trials with service providers across the world have already started, and NetExperience anticipates further trials with today's official TIP OpenWiFi launch.

TIP  OpenWiFi is a disaggregated Wi-Fi software system available as free open-source software that provides both a cloud controller SDK and Access Point (AP) firmware capable of operating on a wide range of Indoor and Outdoor AP hardware built and tested by TIP to work in harmony.

The NetExperience Platform's support for OpenWiFi and OpenRoamingTM is a key reason for using it. Many service providers understand the benefits of updating their networks to support OpenWiFi and OpenRoamingTM, as this helps them to reduce costs and increase revenue by seamlessly offloading 4G and 5G cellular networks to Wi-Fi.

“We are very pleased to bring to market the first full Wi-Fi management platform for OpenWiFi and are thankful to the entire TIP group for their help and encouragement,” said Bernard Herscovici, CEO of NetExperience. “Ultimately, we think this is a significant move toward more accessible worldwide Wi-Fi, as well as a significantly increased quality of experience for end-users.”

“A global community of operators, managed service providers, technology suppliers, and industry organizations collaborated to develop TIP's OpenWiFi solution. It was established to focus on innovation and provide a new breed of interoperable, enterprise-grade Wi-Fi solutions. As a result, service providers now have a wider range of competitive suppliers from around the world to choose from. TIP's latest ecosystem-driven initiative will help to stimulate innovation and enhance the supply chain for next-generation Wi-Fi networks, according to TIP Chief Engineer David Hutton.
About NetExperience

NetExperience is pioneering the transition to a disaggregated Wi-Fi network. NetExperience Cloud Platform enables service providers to incorporate WLAN controller and management features into their back office. The platform is compliant with the Telecom Infra Project Wi-Fi architecture's three main components: CloudSDK certified open-source Access Point software and compatible Access Point hardware. TIP's open-source CloudSDK and Access Point software were managed and contributed to by NetExperience.

About the Telecom Infra Project

The Telecom Infra Project (TIP) is a global community of companies and organizations working to advance global connectivity through infrastructure solutions. Half of the world's population is still not connected to the internet, and connectivity for those who are is frequently inadequate. This restricts access to the internet's multitude of consumer and commercial benefits, thereby affecting global GDP growth. However, a lack of flexibility in current solutions, exacerbated by a limited choice of technology providers, makes it difficult for operators to develop and upgrade networks effectively.

TIP, which was established in 2016, is a diverse community with hundreds of companies ranging from service providers and technology partners to systems integrators and other connectivity stakeholders. They are collaborating to develop, test, and deploy open, disaggregated, and standards-based solutions that will provide the world with high-quality connectivity now and in the future.
