AnyVision Introduces OnPatrol Tactical AI-Based Surveillance for Law Enforcement and Military Police, Providing Real-Time Situational Awareness

AnyVision, the world's leading Recognition AI firm, today announced the release of OnPatrol, a tactical surveillance mobile app that protects law enforcement and military personnel by recognising people of interest and alerting officers in real-time via their mobile device (e.g., phone or bodycam).

“It is critical for the public to have faith in the safety and security offered by law enforcement services. AnyVision OnPatrol can assist de-escalate possible threats and avert physical harm by recognising criminals and dangerous individuals in real-time using our Recognition AI technology,” stated AnyVision CTO Dieter Joecker. “It is specifically built to recognise and compare individual faces against a predefined watchlist – even when persons are in motion, caught in bad lighting, or partially masked by surrounding people.”

This form of watchlist alerting is in sharp contrast to other face recognition technologies, which use neural networks to compare photos from a crime scene to a vast database of photos to locate potential matches. Instead, OnPatrol identifies those persons of interest who have already been identified as dangerous or missing, respecting bystanders' anonymity.

The release coincides with the recent announcement by the United States Justice Department that the Bureau of Justice Assistance is releasing $7.65 million USD in a competitive microgrant grant solicitation to fund body-worn cameras to any law enforcement department with 50 or fewer full-time sworn personnel, rural agencies (those agencies within non-urban or non-metro counties), and federally-recognized tribal agencies.

Among the many advantages of OnPatrol are:

Police Protection: Increase police safety, situational awareness, and community service by allowing officers to assess the threat level of people around them in 1:1 or group contacts.

Low- or no-bandwidth environments: Whether underground or in distant places, OnPatrol can nevertheless give real-time security warnings if a person of interest is recognised via body camera or camera glasses. The entire video analytics process takes place offline within the officer's body camera or smartphone, thanks to edge computing.

Lower Cost Option: Because video material is processed directly from the mobile camera or body camera, considerable costs for servers, bandwidth, and infrastructure that are traditionally associated with high-volume video collection and analysis are avoided.

Availability:
AnyVision's OnPatrol is now available.
