Observe Inc. Introduces AI-Powered Observability and Secures $145M in Series B Funding

DEVELOPMENT

September 26, 2024

San Mateo, Calif. – September 26, 2024 – Observe Inc. , the SaaS observability company transforming how machine-generated data is stored, managed, and analyzed, today introduced its most significant product update yet: Project Voyager . The update introduces an AI Investigator that, along with OpenTelemetry-Native APM and Snowflake Observability, enables Engineering, DevOps, and SRE teams to troubleshoot incidents faster, improving overall customer experiences.

In conjunction with this announcement, Observe Inc. has closed $145 million in Series B funding, with investments led by Evolution Equity Partners and Madrona Ventures . The new funding will help Observe scale its platform to meet growing customer demands while building out its engineering and sales functions. Soma Somasegar , Managing Director at Madrona Ventures, will also join Observe's board of directors.

Traditional monitoring and logging tools often prove too complex for modern distributed applications, leading to skyrocketing costs and inefficient mean-time-to-resolution (MTTR). In contrast, Observe’s solution simplifies observability by combining telemetry data, tooling, and a powerful AI-powered approach to troubleshooting . This approach provides on-call engineers with the information they need, precisely when they need it.

"The introduction of Observe APM fulfills our long-held vision of ingesting data into a unified lake, analyzing it using a single consistent language, and accessing it through a single user interface," said Jeremy Burton , CEO of Observe. "This solution is aligned with our future vision, where a network of intelligent agents will work alongside engineers to reduce MTTR further."

Key features of Project Voyager include:

  • OpenTelemetry-Native APM : Provides insight into the services, traces, and spans of all applications, utilizing the upstream OpenTelemetry standard for seamless integration.
  • Trace Explorer and Service Explorer : These tools give teams visibility into service-level objectives (SLOs) and budget tracking, enabling them to proactively manage customer experiences.
  • Snowflake Observability : Available through the Snowflake Marketplace, this feature allows developers to query high-precision data at scale, ensuring maximum efficiency and security.

With annual recurring revenue (ARR) growth of over 200% year-over-year and net revenue retention (NRR) at 190%, Observe is poised to continue its rapid expansion in the observability space. “We chose Observe for its unique architecture and Snowflake integration, helping us manage data more efficiently,” said Molham Aref , CEO of Relational AI.

AWS AI Agent for Software Development Tackles Complex Tasks with 51% Improvement

DEVELOPMENT

September 25, 2024

Amazon Web Services (AWS) has released a major update to its Amazon Q Developer agent for software development, with benchmark tests showing a 51% increase in tasks resolved. The agent is designed to assist developers by using artificial intelligence (AI) to address software development issues that would traditionally require human intervention.

This improvement was measured using a benchmark called SWE-bench , developed by OpenAI. The benchmark evaluates how effectively AI can resolve coding issues that developers commonly face, specifically in Python. The results show that the Amazon Q Developer agent’s task resolution score improved significantly from 25.6% to 38.8% on a verified dataset and from 13.82% to 19.75% on the full SWE-bench dataset.

According to Neha Goswami , Director of Engineering for Amazon Q Developer, this progress reflects the AI agent's evolving ability to take on more complex tasks. "AI agents like Amazon Q Developer will continue to evolve, leveraging advances in large language models (LLMs) to resolve increasingly complex software development challenges," said Goswami.

The continuous improvements highlight how AWS is integrating AI to support developers and software engineers by automating more intricate aspects of the development process.

Stacey WittChief Marketing Officer LoadSpringStacey Witt, Chief Marketing Officer at LoadSpring has 10 years of experience at LoadSpring, and 27 years in marketing. Her leadership on LoadSpring's Board of Directors helps drive LoadSpring’s vision of the Perfect Cloud—both now and into the future.

She’s the motivating force in building LoadSpring’s market strategy, product development, and outgoing communications. Stacey is skilled in branding, product launches and sales maximization.

MEDIA 7: Could you tell us a little about your background and how you came to be the CMO and Brand Ambassador for cloud solutions at LoadSpring Solutions?
STACEY WITT:
I started my career working for large marketing communications agencies in Canada and the US. Over my career, I have worked on automotive, banking, consumer produts, as well as pharmaceutical companies. Early I learned the importance of both having a strategy and developing a brand that both internal and external audiences became passionate about. As healthcare developed into a high technology industry I started to develop a passion for technology, which lead me to starting my own agency. LoadSpring became a customer and I worked to build a marketing strategy that increased awareness, along with a buyer's journey that increased sales. Since this start, I transitioned to working directly for LoadSpring as their VP marketing and now CMO.

M7: What is the most exciting part of being a woman tech leader in the industry?
SW:
Instead of thinking about myself as a woman in a male-dominated field, I simply thought of myself as someone focused on being the best and producing results.

Being a woman comes with inherent gifts and capabilities that can be a significant professional asset if only we’d allow ourselves to bring them to the table. It’s a very exciting role for me to define and explore.

Mike DickersonChief Executive OfficerClickDimensionsMike Dickerson, Chief Executive Officer at ClickDimensions is an experienced global executive with entrepreneurial passion for developing new businesses and building the teams to bring them to life. Mike has turned an idea on a bar napkin into a $250 million division providing mission-critical communications technology to the Global 1000. He has funded and founded three start ups, and was part of the executive team to take PGI private in a $1.1 billion transaction with Siris Capital.

Mike is interested in talking with anyone who wants to make digital marketing technology more accessible for the benefit of our 3,400 customers and 1,000 partners in the Microsoft Dynamics community.

MEDIA 7: Could you start by telling us a little about yourself? How has your journey been so far?
MIKE DICKERSON:
I was born into a family of entrepreneurs and business pioneers, which meant I was exposed to grit and perseverance from a very young age. Raised by a strong female journalist and self-made businessman, the lessons my parents taught me proved to be ideal for a life as an entrepreneur, including the importance of ethics, integrity and hard work in measuring a person’s impact in the world.

Later, it was my passion for developing new businesses and building the teams to bring them to life that led me to found and lead three startups. A good friend, who has led or funded many companies, calls being an entrepreneur a character defect. This same defect drove me to a brainstorming session with a friend at a bar which became an idea on a napkin which then became a $250 million division providing mission-critical communications technology to the Global 1000. That story has a happy ending as I was as part of the executive team that took PGI private in a $1.1 billion transaction with Siris Capital.

Since 2017, I have been the CEO of ClickDimensions, an industry-leading marketing technology and services company owned by private equity firm Accel-KKR.

My journey so far has involved more than a few risks and obstacles, which have led to big rewards and the ability to work with tech talent across the world. New York Times Best-Selling Author Clayton M. Christensen once wrote, “How Will You Measure Your Life?” in which he described the honor and noble purpose of management. Most of us have to work and spend most of our waking hours on the job. I think about the difference between a team leader who understands teammates needs, and helps them do their best work and leave the job feeling energized for their life outside of work by the contribution they’ve made versus the lousy boss who leaves the company’s employees directionless, defensive and demoralized as they head home. I want to be the former.
