The Future Of AI Is “Smart” With Cognitive Science

The human brain is accustomed to accepting the natural course of things and when science contrives AI, there is a certain discomfort. What if the superficialness of the element is completely removed? What if AI is able to learn things by itself and make decisions? It is already happening. Cognitive science is what’s fueling this phenomenon. We’ll get to that eventually. You’ll be surprised to find variations of AI in so many of your regular activities. When you open Google Maps to check the traffic situation, the app relies on location data and manages to analyze traffic movement based on it. This is helpful AI or Augmented AI which nudges you in a direction or attends to your needs like Alexa and Siri. When you upload pictures on facebook, it automatically detects faces and asks you to tag them.

The advances of AI in healthcare

Article | June 7, 2024

With the Government investing £250 million into the project, the Lab will consider how to use AI for the benefit of patients – whether this be the deployment of existing AI methods, the development of new technologies or the testing of their safety. Amongst other things, the initiative will aim to deliver earlier diagnoses of cancer. It is estimated that in excess of 50,000 extra patients could see their cancer being detected at an early stage, thus boosting survival rates. More specifically, a study has shown that AI is quicker in identifying brain tumour tissue than a pathologist. This would have a positive knock-on effect in other areas, such as enabling money to be saved (that otherwise would have been spent on further treatment) and reducing the workload of staff (at a time when there is a crisis in NHS workforce numbers).

Microsoft Working to Move Driver Updates to the Settings App in Windows 10

Wccftech | December 26, 2019

Microsoft has internally finalized the upcoming version of Windows 10, the 20H1 branch or version 2004. Scheduled for a spring 2020 release, this is a major update coming after May 2019 Update, which was followed by a smaller, service pack-like November 2019 Update. The Windows maker has also started to work on the 20H2 version, which appears to include a focus on making it easier for users to install optional updates and drivers. As reported earlier this month, the company released the last preview build of the year to Insiders in the Fast ring, which has now moved on to working on the version that will be released at the end of 2020. However, it should be noted that Microsoft itself hasn't associated this build with any particular branch and just said that the features being tested "may be slated for a future Windows 10 release," but they are no longer matched to a specific Windows 10 release.

The Pentagon Wants AI-Driven Drone Swarms for Search and Rescue Ops

Nextgov | December 26, 2019

The Defense Department’s central artificial intelligence development effort wants to build an artificial intelligence-powered drone swarm capable of independently identifying and tracking targets, and maybe even saving lives. The Pentagon’s Joint Artificial Intelligence Center, or JAIC, issued a request for information to find out if AI developers and drone swarm builders can come together to support search and rescue missions. Search and rescue operations are covered under one of the four core JAIC research areas: humanitarian aid and disaster relief. The program also works on AI solutions for predictive maintenance, cyberspace operations and robotic process automation. The goal for the RFI is to discover whether industry can deliver a full-stack search and rescue drone swarm that can self-pilot, detect humans and other targets and stream data and video back to a central location. The potential solicitation would also look for companies or teams that can provide algorithms, machine training processes and data to supplement that provided by the government.
