Using Digital Experience Monitoring to Guide Cloud Migrations

Since the arrival of the Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) model in 1999, personified by the launch of Salesforce.com, and the Infrastructure-asa-Service (IaaS) model in 2008, when Amazon Web Services was born, cloud computing has become pervasive in enterprise IT—and that trend is only growing stronger. Cloud adoption is growing because of the advantages it brings in administration, agility, and flexibility. If enterprises have less internal applications and infrastructure to manage and upgrade, they can more easily provision new resources in response to demand. These resources can be accessed from anywhere in the world where there’s an internet connection. There are generally short-term cost reductions with cloud as well, though long-term cost savings are debatable.
