WekaIO has Announced its Support of NVIDIA’s Turbocharged HGX AI Supercomputing Platform

WekaIO, one of the fastest-growing data platforms for AI/ML, life sciences research, and high-performance computing (HPC), today announced the WekaFS Limitless Data Platform's ability to use the newly-turbocharged NVIDIA HGX AI supercomputing platform to deliver the best performance and throughput required of today's most demanding enterprise workloads.

The NVIDIA HGX platform includes three important technologies: the NVIDIA A100 80GB GPU, the NVIDIA NDR 400G InfiniBand networking, and the NVIDIA Magnum IO GPUDirect Storage software.

Weka's support for NVIDIA's next-generation technologies on launch day results from a strong working relationship between the businesses and Weka's ongoing commitment to offer clients the newest features required to assist store, secure best, and manage their data.

WekaFS recently achieved one of the highest aggregate NVIDIA Magnum IO GPUDirect Storage throughput figures of any storage system tested at Microsoft Research. In addition, engineers achieved the greatest throughput of any storage solution tested to date by doing tests on a system with WekaFS installed in combination with several NVIDIA DGX-2 servers in a staging environment. This high level of performance was obtained and confirmed by running the NVIDIA gdsio utility as a stress test, which demonstrated sustained performance throughout the test.

Different stages of AI data pipelines have different storage needs for enormous ingest bandwidth, mixed read/write handling, and ultra-low latency, which often results in storage silos at each step. This implies that business and IT executives must rethink how they architect storage stacks and make storage purchases for these new workloads. Customers can take advantage of significant performance improvements with much less overhead by using NVIDIA's platform updates, process data quicker while reducing power consumption, and boost AI/ML workloads while attaining greater accuracy.

Using WekaFS in combination with the new NVIDIA HGX AI supercomputing platform features allows channel partners to offer high-performance solutions to a growing range of sectors requiring rapid data access – whether on-premises or in the cloud. Manufacturing, life sciences, scientific research, energy exploration and extraction, and financial services are among the industries we serve that need an HPC storage system to react to application demands.

WekaFS is the world's fastest and most scalable POSIX-compliant parallel file system, built to overcome the constraints of traditional file systems that rely on local storage, NFS, or block storage. It is suitable for data-intensive AI and high-performance computing (HPC) applications. WekaFS is a new design that combines NVMe-based flash storage for the performance tier with GPU servers, object storage, and ultra-low latency interconnects fabrics in an NVMe-over-Fabrics architecture to provide an exceptionally high-performance scale-out storage system. WekaFS performance grows linearly when additional servers are added to the storage cluster, enabling the infrastructure to develop in conjunction with the business's growing needs.
